Apaches of New York

The Series

Giuseppe Morello — the Clutch Hand — and his half-brothers the Terranovas were real people. They grew up in the cramped, squalid tenements of East Harlem and rose to dominate their neighborhood and New York's criminal underworld. They left their mark across court dockets, Secret Service files, and the front pages of 1910s New York newspapers. Apaches of New York rebuilds that vanished world from the historical record: the Black Hand, the vendettas, and the gangsters and killers who walked those blocks before anyone called it the Mob.

The Secret Service Dossiers

In 1909, U.S. Secret Service agents shadowed the Morello Crime Family through the streets of East Harlem — recording names, aliases, and surveillance observations in meticulous case files. The Secret Service Dossiers on the Morello Crime Family are based on that real investigative record, reimagined as the documents you'd find slipped inside a manila envelope.
